Bath Bombs!

This term Room 25 have been learning about chemical reactions. We decided to share our learning with our families by making bath bombs to take home.

The science behind it...
When baking soda and citric acid are mixed and are then put in water, they undergo a chemical reaction. The reaction produces lots of bubbles, which you see as the bath bomb dissolves in the water. These bubbles that make the water become so fizzy are made of carbon dioxide gas!

Here is the recipe we followed:

Bath Bombs
What you need:
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup citric acid
  • ½ cup epsom salts
  • 1 tsp water
  • 2 tsp essential oil
  • 3 tsp oil (olive oil)
  • food colouring
  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • jar

What to do:

  1. Place the dry ingredients in a bowl and then mix them all evenly with the whisk.
  2. Mix the liquid ingredients together
  3. Slowly add the liquid to the dry mixture one spoon at a time
  4. Pack the mixture into a mould tightly. Allow to dry
