Inquiry Term 2 - What happens next?

This term we are focusing on science! We are discovering 'What Happens Next?' through kitchen chemistry experiences. Over the past two weeks we have conducted a range of experiments and have been predicting, observing and thinking about what is the science in each experiment. Check out some of our experiments below!

* Will it dissolve?
We discussed what we knew about dissolving then made predictions as to which ingredients would dissolve in some water.
* Lava in a cup
Salt was the magic ingredient in this experiment. The salt caused blobs of 'lava' to move up and down in the glass.

      * Mouldy Bread
        A visitor to Room 25 got a fright on Friday when she spotted a piece of bread stuck to the roof! We have put three pieces of bread in different places around the class and have predicted which piece will grow the most mould and why!
* Egg in a jar
We put some raw eggs into a jar of vinegar and left it for a few days. We noticed bubbles and foam and when we took them out of the jar we could rub the egg shells off with our fingers. We thought we should cut one open to see what it was like inside and it popped! Come and read out recount stories in our writing books all about these smelly eggs.
